Updates to JobKeeper

From 3 August there are changes to the relevant date of employment when determining an employee’s eligibility for JobKeeper. Jobkeeper update

These changes mean that more people may now be eligible to receive JobKeeper payment. Those employed between 1 March and 1 July 2020 may now also be eligible for JobKeeper. This also applies to those who turned 18 during this period. Casual staff employed on a systemic basis for one year up to 1 July 2020 may also now be eligible.

Under the ‘one in all in’ rule you must check if any of your employees that were not previously eligible now meet the criteria. To ensure you meet your obligations you must provide a JobKeeper employee nomination notice to any employees that are now eligible.

You must also ensure that you have paid the minimum $1,500 fortnightly payments for the month of August, prior to 31 August 2020.

Further updates to JobKeeper will come into effect from 28 September – including a reduced payment amount and further requirements to check eligibility.
